March 12th - Inter Lions Juniors and Mens @ Concord Oval
Inter Lions Soccer Club kicked off the year
showcasing their strong junior talent as a prelude
to our Men's 1st Division State League sides opening
competition game.
With a glorious day on hand, the youngsters had
a chance to play on a plush Concord Oval and enjoy a
nice relaxing family day out afterwards, watching
other Inter sides playing and soaking up the
atmosphere of Concord Oval.
Under 6's through to our Under 15's showed their
skills and gave their coaches a good look at their
respective teams' performance. Overall games were
played in a friendly good natured spirit and a good
time was enjoyed by all.

March 19th - Round 2 - Inter Lions vs Hurstville
City @ Ilinden Spt
Making up lost ground from last
weeks defeat, Inter Lions were determined to turn it
around playing against former winter super league
side Hurstville City Minotaurs at Rockdale Ilinden
Sports Park. Both Inter teams came away with maximum
points for the day moving them up the table.
U20's after a slow first half
clicked up a few gears and pumped 4 goals to runaway
with the game easily and never look threatened.
Hurstville had no answers. Inters young team is
coming together well.
Inter Lions Under 20: Won 5-0
Scorers: Nick Paradisis 3
William Donato 1
Robert Bruno 1
Half time scores were 1-0. Good
games from William Donato, Robert Bruno, Liam Cole
and Nick Paradisis who bagged a hatrick.
First Grade dominated the entire
match with a 90% possession ratio and the scores
should have been higher. A gutsy win from Inter
moves them up the table and will build their
confidence up for this weeks game against Springwood
@ Concord Oval.
Inter Lions 1st Grade: Won 2-0
Half time scores were 1-0. Best
performers on the day were Frank Ianni, Adrian
Vizzari and Anthony Tessero.

the game going in at half time leading 2-0.

of the game were Jacob Di Mento and Nick
Paradisis
1st Grade: Inter 4 -
Springwood 2
A solid tough game by both
teams. Inter came to Concord oval in the right
frame of mind and did not disappoint. Inter had
several early chances through Steve Bivinao and
Ben Jarmaon but could not capitalise. Springwood
managed to hold off and went into the break
locked in at 0-0. Inter controlled the majority
of the second half through Frank Ianni, Con
Paradisis and Ben Jarman in the Midfiled and
defenders Jeremy Pentanon, Anthony Tessoro and
Adrain Viazzri holding the fort. Springwood
lucky to have scored two scrupulous goals in the
60th and 70th minute. Inter scorers struck in
the 55th minute with a free kick from the middle
of the park. Frank Ianni passing to Adrian
Vizzari who crossed the ball to Steve Biviano
who head the ball into back of net and takes
Inter into the lead. In the 73rd minute, Lachlan
Wright headed Inter's second goal leaving the
keeper with no chance. A 75th minute cross by
Con Paradisis straight to Adrian Vizzari who
safely tucked the ball away to take Inter to a
3-2 lead. A last 85th minute goal from a free
kick by Adrian Vizzari straight into the top
left hand side of the goal with the keeper not
even attempting to move.
Inters best players of the
day were Adrian Vizzari, Steve Biviano and Frank
Ianni.

- April 9th -
Inter Lions vs Blacktown Spartans
Under 20's:
Inter 2 - Blacktown 3
Inter came into
this game winning it last three matches and quietly
confident. The game was close as both teams played
well with near misses going into the break at half
time 1-1. Blacktown struck midway through the second
half with Inter replying a few minutes later. The
game was headed for a draw but Blacktown's
persistence in attack paid off and scored the
winning goal minutes from the end to seal victory.
Inter best players: Liam Cole, Sebestian Perri and
William Donato
1st Grade:
Inter 0 - Blacktown 3
Both teams
came into this match knowing a win would put them at
the top of the table. A tough physical match and no
love lost between them. Blacktown hit early which
stung Inter Lions who went close to equalising on a
number of occasions but could not capitalise on the
good lead up work. With a player sent off after 25
minutes, Inter were going to do it tough with 10 men
on the park, Going down at half time 1-0. Second
half started well but Blacktown struck again after
20 minutes and the match could have turned but
Blacktown struck again with 15 minutes till the end
which sealed victory 3-0. Try as Inter did with 10
men but to many missed chances cost Inter dearly on
the day who will have to regroup to play in the
Continental Cup Round 3 fixture this Wednesday night
against Bonnyrigg.
Best players for Inter: Lachlan Wright, Frank Ianni
and Dean Sperianson
- April
12 - Continental Cup - Round 3
Inter Lions 1 -
Bonnyrigg White Eagles 0
Scorer:
Steve Biviano - 44th minute
Inter squared off against 2005 Premiere League Grand
Finalists Bonnyrigg White Eagles at BWE Sports
Centre missing star players Lachlan Wright and
Adrian Vizzari who were on call to Australian
Futsalroos side. Inter had to dig deep and call
upon Robert Bruno, Jacob DiMento and Tim Mascarello from
their U20's side to help out and they did not
disappoint.
In front of a parochial home crowd, Bonnyrigg
started the first half trying to dominate early
testing the Inter defence. Bonnyrigg were unlucky
not to score after 10 minutes sliding across the
goal mouth hitting post on the way out. Bonnyrigg
kept pounding the Inter goal time and time again but
were denied by Inter goalkeeper Adam Kurtz who was
in superb touch.
Inter had a few chances but Bonnyrigg's defence was
equal to the task limiting Inter's goal scoring
chances going into the break 0-0. Bonnyrigg’s
sweeper being sent off did not help their chances.
Second half started pretty much the same way. Inter
were awarded a free kick and Frank Ianni's pass to
Steve Biviano whose shot was driven home passed the
keeper put Inter in front
in the 44th minute stunning the Bonnyrigg faithful.
Bonnyrigg picking up the pace, attacking at every
opportunity but weary of the Inter forwards who
could strike at any moment. Inter were slowly taking
control of the game through their backs and midfield
tightening like a cobra snake around Bonnyrigg’s
necks not letting go, holding off raids with superb
saves from man of the
match goalkeeper
Adam Kurtz, and Jeremy Penttanon clearing the ball
off the line, saving the day. With a few minutes to
go, Bonnyrigg made one last raid, hitting upright,
ending a thrilling and entertaining game.
Best Players for Inter: Adam Kurtz, Jeremy Penttanon,
Steve Biviano and
Leone Sansone

Under 20's: Inter 3 - Belmore 2
Inter came from behind twice to over power the
Belmore Hercules team. A fine effort front the ever
improving team.
Overall the
team played exceptionally well with Liam Cole
standing out with 3 goals on the day.
Scorers - Liam Cole - 3
Best Players: Liam Cole, Jacob Di Mento, William
Donato and Adrian Cacciotti
1st Grade:
Inter 1 - Belmore 2
Inter started slowly with Belmore Hercules catching
Inters defence short scoring in the 20th minute with
a perfect cross to the far post volleyed by the
Belmore forward to give them a 1-0 lead. The game
was evenly matched until the 67th minute with a
short pass by the Inter backs was intercepted by a
Belmore forward who slotted the ball away to give
them a 2-0 lead. Inter were unlucky not to score on
numerous occasions in the second half and should
have put goals away but were denied by some
brilliant saves by the Belmore goal keeper. In the
89th minute Nikolas Paradisis finally broke the
Belmore defence to score but all to late.

- U6/1 win Paul Daniels Gala Day
at the Central Coast
The
Inter Lions 6/1's did the club proud in the Paul
Daniels Gala Day for
Under 6's. Fifteen teams congregated at Woy Woy Soccer
Club to battle
it out for the 'Cup', which began with the round-robin
games and proceeded
to the elimination rounds of semi-final and final. The
competition has been
running since 1985 as the Central Coast's premier Gala
Day attracting teams
from Avoca to Budgewoi.
This year, they allowed a Sydney entrant (Inter
Lions) and welcomed us to participate in a day full of
emotion, skill, laughter and anxiety.
We weren't quite sure of what kind of reception we would
receive as the
only Sydney team to attend the event but quickly made to
feel at home by the
Coasties who were impressed with our team's outfits,
professionalism and
approach to the game. The boy's conducted themselves
impeccably during
the games and in true form, ran riot in-between games to
ensure the parents
received very little respite. Suffice to say, our team
went through the
tournament undefeated winning all their pool games and
after two hours
and ten minutes of playing time, crowned joint winners
of the tournament in
a battle royale with Kincumber.
This was a remarkable achievement for our boys when
considering we had
only one substitute for the entire day for rotation due
to the unavailability
of star players, Matthew Missiakos and Gian-Luca
Pasquale. Doing us proud
however and performing as a cohesive unit and well-above
their age group
were:- Patrick Scibilio, Josh Karantz, Athan Diniotis,
Ellis Belos, Isaac Riley,
Guy Squadrito and Damon Bayley.
A fabulous day and great result for all involved.
Regards,
Leo Diniotis / Coach

- Round 1
Date: Sunday 17th September, 2006
Round 1- Illawarra District
Venue: Morley Park, Warilla
Inter Lions vs Illawarra Association
Inter Lions had 8 teams qualifying for this
prestigious tournament, a record which I don't think
will be broken for a long time. 6 teams made the
journey down south to Illawarra, 2 had a bye.
Majority of the teams travelled by Coach, parents
supporters drove down and lunatics rode their push
bikes down. Weather was perfect for a great days
play, all teams were fired up and put on a fine
display for all to see. At one stage Inter
Lions teams we competing on 3 fields at once, with
parents and spectators moving across the grounds to
support the different teams at different stages
which was great to see.
The opposing side were heard to comment how well and
how professional the players looked in their off and
on field uniforms, even to the point that the
coaches and managers were dressed in same polo tops.
Once again congratulations to all the teams, coaches
and managers for their efforts on the day.
A Special thanks to the parents and supporters (even
the loonies on the bikes) for making the journey.
Team photos are on the website with the scores.
U13 Boys -
Inter Lions (1) vs Illawarra Association (0)
A good fast
paced game with both teams not giving an
inch. With play moving quickly at either
side, it was one of those matches that
whoever scored first was going to win the
match. Well Inter did not have to wait long
as a great goal by Nathan Mastroianni gave
Inter the lead. From then on Inter looked
comfortable though there were a few anxious
moments with some deft substitutes from Melo
slowing the game down to a snails pace and
taking the momentum from the Illawarra
side who were never allowed to move out of
first gear which frustrated them to no end.
Fine effort
from the team to hold on. Well done.

U14 Boys -
Inter Lions (2 - Golden Goal) vs Illawarra
Association (1)
What a nail
bitter! It would be fair to say that most of the
parents had a coronary watching this game. After
copping a 5-0 hammering in last years tournament
3rd round match to the team that were Champions
on 2004 and 2005. Inter boys came out pumped,
ready to go and they did not disappoint. 0-0 at
half time. Inter were gaining momentum, it was
only a matter of time before Inter scored and
midway through the second half a fine corner
from Alessandro Mazzeo found Peter Milazzo who
headed the ball into the side netting to give
Inter the lead. With about 5 minutes to go,
Illawarra were awarded a free kick 10 metres
outside the penalty area, 2 metres in from
sideline. A great free kick found the top corner
of the goal to equalise.
This took both
teams into sudden death extra time "GOLDEN GOAL
". Inter kicked off and the ball went to
Alessandro Mazzeo who bolted down the side line
to cross the ball straight passed the goalkeeper
where Mitchell Davidson slotted the ball in to
win the match. This took all of 20 seconds!
Well done to
all the players who played with a lot of spirit
and heart. Congratulations! Great game and heart
stopper.

U14 Girls -
Inter Lions (0) vs Illawarra Association (1)
A very
close game and missed vital scoring chances
could not finish off promising moves. Great
passing lead to good opportunities. Time and
time again attacking moves could not be
finished off and cost Inter dearly. Lapse in
defence cost Inter a goal midway through the
first half. Inter could not capitalise. All
the girls played well on a very hot day.
Experience will hold them in good stead for
the 2007 season. Well Done.

U16 Boys -
Inter Lions (2) vs Illawarra Association (3)
A great game by
Inter and the score did not reflect the game, but
fair to say that Inters downfall was copping two
early goals in the first 5 minutes of the game did
them harm. Once the team settled they took control
of the game and the midfield started to dominate all
play and it started to fall into place. A good goal
in the first half by Adrianno Talone gave the team
hope and moved them up a notch. Play going from end
to end. A great second half goal by Morgan
Jackson took Inter to equal terms.
To Inter's credit,
they fought and clawed back to 2-2. Illawarra
received a penalty in the second half to take them
to a 3-2 score line ahead of Inter.
Inter had created
numerous chances with some good lead up work but
failed to capitalise and it cost them dearly. Game
well played. Well done boys. Great spirited display
and fighting qualities.

U17 Boys -
Inter Lions (3) vs Illawarra Association (0)
Looking sharp Inter
were not about to take a backward step in this game
and dominated the entire match. Illawarra had a few
chances but the Inter midfield and defence had their
measure all day. A great goal midway through first
half by JP Foti, with Inter adding the second goal
to Vito Salvaggio whose persistence paid off late in
the second half. 2-0 lead at the break was a good
but dangerous lead. The boys needed to stay focused
for the second half of the match. Not only did they
stay focused but they played Illawarra off the park
and starved them of the ball for the entire second
half to the point of frustration and a few yellow
cards as well, then a great goal from Mark Hanna
sealed the game beyond all doubt.
Trip down south
made worthwhile. Well done. Next stop....North
Coast.

U18 Girls -
Inter Lions (5) vs Illawarra Association (0)
What can you
say on a 5-0 drubbing. Inter had control of the
game right from the start. Scoring 4 goals in
the first 15 minutes of the first half, Laura
Elliot scoring at will, gaining a hatrick of
goals, then Adrianna Adamo finishing off the rut
giving Inter a 4-0 lead at half time. In the
second half the girls were in cruise control
knocking the ball around, looking more like a
training session than a game with Sheena Mansel
scoring the fifth and final goal.
Not
much else to say other than total domination.

With one win in
Champion of Champions under their belt since
their grand final win, this game saw them
take on Illawarra Association and beat them
5-0. The 18 girls met their second hardest
game in round 2 to take on Southern
Districts (Como West). The Inter girls
started the game in flying form denying Como
any ball possession. With the team in fine
form, it saw great team work which lead
Laura Elliot scoring her first goal in the
10th minute of the first half. Shortly
after, great passing of the ball saw Laura
Elliot once again pick up the pace and take
on 4 Como players and send a cracking right
footer past the goal keeper to make the
score 2-0 at half time.
When the
girls returned for the second half straight
from the kick off saw a 1, 2, 3 play between
Sheena, Anne-Maree and Sam sending Laura
scoring a third goal. At this stage with the
hot weather and winds blowing, Como with the
score line reading 3-0 started to show signs
of desperation. Great teamwork once again by
the back line moving the ball around feeding
it to the midfield with a great pass from
Adriana to Laura Elliot once again taking on
3 Como players to score her fourth goal.
Como threw everything they could to try and
stop Laura in her tracks. Forgetting the
Inter team had other Laura’s in her grasp
which brought Sheena into play with great
passing and ball control between Adriana,
Anne-Maree and Jessica and back to Sheena to
put a left foot shot and sail past the goal
keeper once again which brought the score to
5-0. It was quite obvious that Como gave up
but as for their counterparts Inter this job
was only half done. Great attacking play
which saw 11 touches on the ball from the
back line to the midfield out throw there
strikers again finding Sheena open for her
to go in for her second goal. This bringing
the score line to 6-0. At the end of the
game the comments given to the Inter girls
by Como was “You girls are much too classy
for us.” Next match will see round 3 and the
Inter girls take on North West Women at
Frazer Park at 12:00pm. Let’s hope we can
continue this winning form. Well done girls,
I couldn’t be anymore prouder.

Over 35's -
Inter Lions (1) vs Cronulla
RSL (2)
Inter Lions
Over 35's and Cronulla RSL played
out a hard fought match in Round 2
of the annual Champions of Champions
tournament at Fraser Park.
Mother nature
had provided hot gale winds on a day
best suited to stay indoors but the
classy veterans from both sides put
on a close, evenly matched
encounter. Inter Lions went into the
match on the back of their
sixth successive Canterbury
Association championship, hoping to
win the only title that so far has
eluded them, the Champions of
Champions, with two semi-final
appearances in recent years being
their best efforts thus far.
The match
started rather tentatively, with
both sides cautiously assessing
their opposition. Cronulla RSL
created a couple of half chances
which were well controlled by the
Inter defence lead by Robert Gangi,
Ernesto Meduri and Eddie Ospitale.
The Inter Lions midfield started to
assert some ascendancy, and with
that created some opportunities,
first with Adrian Ciscato being
foiled by the bumpy pitch with the
goal at his mercy, and then Russell
Palmer intercepting a poor pass but
firing over.
Inter's
domination finally achieved the
desired result when Steve Lipari
made a mesmerising run down the left
and his low cross was laid back by
Adrian Ciscato, and Frank Speranza drilled
a low shot into the net to opening
the scoring. 1-0 to Inter and
Cronulla were on the ropes and
holding out until half time.
The teams changed at the break, and
it was Cronulla RSL who now had the
advantage of a huge gale wind
blowing their way, leaving Inter
Lions pretty much
camped in their own half for much of
the second period. Even though they
defended strongly, a greater amount
of possession eventually told and
Cronulla scored two great goals in
the final 10 minutes, the second
from a direct free kick, to steal
the match 2-1.
A fantastic
effort by Inter Lions and a very
successful season nevertheless, and
who will no doubt recoup their
energies, recover from their bumps
and bruises, and be back next year
aiming for championship number 7 and
another tilt at the Champions of
Champions.

Kanga Cup
2009 -
Under 9/1 Boys
Last week,
the Inter Lions U9/1's won the Kanga Cup,
playing a year up in the U10 Plate competition.
The McDonald’s Kanga Cup is the BIGGEST Youth
Football tournament in the southern hemisphere
and one of the biggest in the world, taking
place annually in Canberra for Under 10-18.
The week long event in July provided our local
juniors the opportunity to meet players and
representatives from all over Australia as well
as international visitors. Social and cultural
exchanges were encouraged between competitors
throughout the tournament, with a wide range of
social activities available for participants and
officials making the tournament a "cultural
festival of football".
The boys from Inter Lions conducted themselves
in a highly professional manner throughout the
entire tournament, drawing admiration and
commendations from officials, as well as
opposition coaches and parents. Congratulations
goes to all the boys (and their parents) for
this massive achievement and their performances
throughout the tournament, taking out the final
with a comprehensive display of possession
football and a 3-0 win.
Well done Inter 9/1's.

Sydney Cup - Sunday 5th
July 2009
Under 17's Sydney Cup Final, Inter Lions v
Enfield Rovers, both teams from Canterbury
Distinct a terrific result for the association.
The Inter boys felt that they had done the hard
work in the previous two rounds beating Champion
of Champions winners 2008 Eastwood St Andrews
and previous State Cup Winners Sydney Juniors in
two very hard fought games. Without taking
anything away from a spirited Enfield side, who
obviously deserved their place in the final and
had their own thoughts of spoiling the party.
The game could have been finished earlier if
Inter had been on target in the early stages of
the game, missing two fantastic one on one
opportunities with the Enfield Goalkeeper, and
later having two shots rebound off the cross bar
and post one seemingly crossing the line before
it was headed away by an Enfield defender. When
the final whistle blew at 1.30pm a deserved 2 -
0 win to Inter Lions thanks to a tremendous turn
& volley into the roof of the net from talented
midfielder Gordon Lyubicic, followed by a second
goal from the non stop midfield play maker Adam
Camelire who headed up a dominate central
midfield partnership throughout the tournament
with the versatile and creative duo Joshua Hall
& John-Paul Calcara, Every player did what was
asked of them, however, there where some other
outstanding contributions throughout the
tournament from skipper Alessandro Mazzeo, and
his blistering raids into the oppositions danger
zones, Stephen Roda played just about every
position on the field throughout the tournament
and a shinning light, also bagging a couple of
goals on the way, but special mention needs to
go to the unsung hero's of the game, I have
often heard that the forwards win you games,
which is true, however, I have a slightly
different theory, it’s the backs that win you
tournaments, without the glamour of scoring
these guys stood tall, protected the goal
without fan fare, clearly doing a great job with
an 11/2 ratio for the tournament. Each one of
these players did their part, Eren Demerol,
